Why I Chose This Topic:
The way I chose my topic is very simple. I had an autobiography of Rosa Parks and thought it would be fun to learn more about her. I knew she was a part of the Bus Boycott that took place in Montgomery, but I didn’t really know the affects, so I decided to research about it.
How I Conducted My Research:
The first thing I did to start my research was go on the internet. I looked up Rosa Parks and the affects of the Montgomery Bus Boycott which gave me many websites to find the basic background history of what the boycott was and why it took place. Once I collected the basics of my topic, I went into further research by going to reliable websites like PBS.org and the Archives of Alabama. I found really good documents and newspapers that I could use as primary sources. I also read the autobiography of Rosa Parks. When reading that book I found out how she and many other people played a big role in the Boycott.
How I Created and Developed My Website:
I went to the NHD website to find out which websites I’m allowed to use to create my own website. I then picked out the theme of the website I wanted including the color scheme and font of the words. I drafted out the number of pages, on a sheet of paper, that I would put on the website. I also drafted the info that would go on each page. After this I inputted the information I had from research on the website.
How My Project Relates to the NHD Theme:
My project relates to the NHD theme because the Montgomery Bus Boycott was a turning point in history. It was the first major success of a peaceful protest. When a group of people stand up for what they believe in, it gets attention. When the African American people of that time stopped riding the city buses due to being tired of being mistreated, it crippled the economy and things began to change. The change that it brang affected the nation and the turnout of history for African Americans in numerous ways. This relates to a turning point in history because it was a turning point in slavery and equality of history.
